Easy Courses uOttawa

Every year students are researching this in some form, “easy courses uOttawa”. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with that. The cycle of undergraduate education can be really hard sometimes. Hence, sometimes students just need some easy courses to boost their GPA. For that reason, through this post, I will be recommending some easy courses that have definitely helped boost my GPA.

Introduction to Business Management (ADM 1300)

This course is a first-year course that goes over basic business terms, concepts, and theories. Moreover, through this course, you learn about how to analyze and do business reports for case studies, along with business presentations. Overall, the theory of this course is really easy to understand, and if you take it with Gebre Mekonnen then I can guarantee that you will not need a textbook. Professor Mekonnen has everything you need to know on his PowerPoint slides which are posted on Brightspace. These slides are so well detailed that you can even get an A+ on the midterm and final exam without attending his lectures.

Now,  you learn about case studies and business presentations during the discussion groups (DGD’s) for this class. There are two group case studies accompanied by oral presentations and one individual case study. Although this may sound like a lot of work, the work itself is not very hard. Since this is an introductory level course, the cases are fairly straightforward. Furthermore, there is a checklist you have to follow for the case studies and presentations. Therefore, if you do everything on the checklist then you can easily get an A+ on all the assignments. Lastly, these presentation and case study skills can be easily used to amp up your resume.

Digital Marketing (ADM 4326)

This is a fourth-year course that has a good mix of theory and technical skills. Through this class, you learn about the best practices to market yourself or your business online. The concepts in this class are very easy to understand. In my opinion, a lot of the theories can be easily remembered if you apply a little bit of common sense. Furthermore, there is no textbook for this class, so whatever you learn is within class time. The professor, Jonathan Simon does post his slides online, but he says many important details as he speaks. Additionally, you can acquire participation points in this class and the professor brings in a guest speaker every week. These guest speakers are a great way for students to build their network and gain insight into the real world. Hence, it is crucial that you attend the lectures. In terms of exams, there is a midterm and a final. The exams are mostly short answers, which can easily be answered if you pay attention in class.

Now, the big assignment for this class is building your own website. This assignment is divided into four mini assignments so that you can work on it throughout the semester. With that being said, if you are anything like me, then the thought of building your own website may scare the daylight out of you because of your lack of technical skills. Nevertheless, the website is actually fairly easy to build, as we use a program called Page Cloud to build it. Page Cloud makes it so easy that it is really a matter of cutting and pasting different parts together. Thus, you don’t need to worry about coding or doing anything fancy because you don’t need it.

Competitive Intelligence (ADM 3316)

This is a third-year course that is about analyzing and sorting information in order to make informed decisions to gain a competitive advantage. This is a very theory-based course, but if you take it with Jocelyn Turgeon then it should be pretty easy. This professor has no exams. His course consists of one group project, one individual project, four log books, and an optional competitive intelligence (CI) course.

It is very possible to get an A+ on the individual and group project as long as you incorporate all the criteria that the professor wants. The different components of the projects are very straightforward and as long as you have them then your A+ is guaranteed. The four log books are basically 500-word reflections on class topics of your choice and two of the log books can be replaced if you do the extra CI course. You can easily write the log books based on his slides which makes it very convenient. Lastly, the extra CI course is literally 14 little videos that are accompanied by mini multiple-choice quizzes. The quizzes are very straightforward if you watch the videos and you can easily finish all of them within three to four hours. By completing the CI course you can get a CI certification, bonus points for your final grade, and you can replace or not do two logbooks.

Determinants of Health (HSS 1102)

This is by far the easiest course that I have taken. This course covers all the external factors that lead to health issues. This is a very theory-based course, but Professor Raywat Deonandan made it exceptionally easy. This course consists of about 8-10 quizzes and one final exam. This may sound like a lot, but on the contrary, the evaluations are very easy. All the tests are multiple-choice questions that are very straightforward. Additionally, the answers to all the questions are directly from his PowerPoint slides, so if you study his slides then you are set for success.

In summation, I hope these courses can be helpful for other uOttawa students as well.
